i have come here to let it all out. I realised that in this case a problem shared is fully solved even without feedback from the one i am sharing it with. I have realised that i had lived a tough life in boarding school which is probably the reason for my traces of bi-polar condition. I was scarred as a child!
After my PLE, i was ecstatic about being placed in the hottest schools in Uganda. Trust me when your mum has gone through such a school and is refined like mine, you will only see yourself at the end of the education phase smiling under pouring confetti.
The school rules prescribed that we wear long dresses and try as much as possible to look like little nuns which is what mother dearest packed in my bags. I tell you, there is no way i could have climbed the social charts with clothes like those. In fact i fear looking back because it just hurts my mind's eye. The view is repulsive. How would i convince the members that i was from City Parents' School with such clothes. What helped me is i lacked Biguna in the head other such atrocities that my comrades from "those" schools, graced School X with.
Anyway day 1 was fine, day 2 was ok, day 3 was mortifying. See, i smile a lot, and being 13 years and month old did not save the situation. It was during orientation time when something(dont remember what it was) caused my facial muscles to get a little disorganised. Having been asked what my deal was and me staring in outright confusion, there was nothing these wise girls in S6 could do but hand me a stick and trench full of moss to be cleared within an hour's time. In my lif, never had i touched moss, better yet stepped in a trench, but here i was clearing a trench of moss. Not even the thief in my village can be told to do such things. But anyway perhaps that was what it meant to be in a top single sex school.
BtDabz, i should remind you that i wasnt a bad kid...yes, i'll admit i hated housework considering the fact that i didnt find it logical to be sweeping leaves that never fell...LOL those girls thought we were in outside countries. I put on the long dresses. I ate the disgusting food, I was in for prep at 6 59pm, I went for the sports programs and saw the weird girls shake their bums for the coach, I DID ALL OF THESE THINGS. I went for mass on Sunday, never laughed in church. You can imagine how at this moment i'd prefer to be on that day school only TOP TV is allowed to advertise.
And to think that that was all, day 5 came could not wait to happen. Remember i am only 13 years old and it is only normal that i take sometime pulling my heavy jerrycan into dorm. While i am at it, the lights out bell rings and dum..dum..dum..the prefect's got me..PUNISHMENT: Stand in the A-level lawn till 2am while her not so beautiful friends hurl comments insulting chubby me. But i have always been a chubby child and Mother seemed not to complain, but now these people made it look like it was a crime to have rice Crispies every morning. That jealousy...i never understood!
Then there came sosh...i am still in S1 btw. It is embarrassing enough that your sosh date is not half the dancer he claims to be in that stupid mail he sent you on paper with flowers and Fa for men. For those who cut themselves off from he traditional UNEB in search of accents, SOSH is the biggest event in the lives of girls and boys in single sex schools. Now the rule was once you are caught staring at the sosh participants, you would scrub a road, moss the tennis courts and scrub the pits. But i'll cut this part out when i am telling her how tough the world is-i shouldn't pollute her innocent mind. After sosh, when Peter has left girl X for Nambi part deux, lied about his dancing skills, she wasn't the best dressed like shed imagined, her cheap heels gave way as her weight prompted them to,everything didn't go as dreamed. So with all this aggitation, poor child Kakuba was found peeping through the vents in the showers and called to work.this is like punishment 5000.
With skill, i swept the path in the scorching sun till the soil begged for mercy.
To be honest i couldnt stay one more day in that school after all this I had to march out. You work so hard to get into the school and for the money you pay, this is what you get?? Conclusion: Having realised that i will be an ancestor at some point, no girl with my blood shall be put through such schools...even if she cries, wails, laments, etc etc...I SAID WHAT?????? NGAHA!!!!
